Short trip/motorcycle tour in the Serra do Gandarela National Park in Minas Gerais. Lots of off-roading ending with a winding paved road with incredible views. Subscribe to the channel!! About the tour: Located in the south-central portion of the state of Minas Gerais and with a territorial extension of approximately 7 thousand square kilometers, the Iron Quadrangle is an area neighboring Belo Horizonte formed by the cities of Sabará, Congonhas, Itabira, Nova Lima, Santa Bárbara, Mariana, Ouro Preto, among others. The Sabarabuçu Trail of the Estrada Real takes a good detour around the Iron Quadrangle. The Iron Quadrangle is the largest national producer of raw iron ore, followed by Pará. Of all national production, 48% comes from the region, which has an area of approximately 7 thousand square kilometers. It is home to part of two of the most important river basins in the state, the Rio Doce and the Rio das Velhas. A large recharge area for these basins is located in the middle of the Iron Quadrangle, and is the Serra do Gandarela National Park. Serra do Gandarela The Serra do Gandarela National Park, created in 2014, is an important environmental conservation area in the southern portion of the Espinhaço Range, 40 km from Belo Horizonte. It covers an area of 8 municipalities and has an irregular shape. Entrance is free and visitors are welcome at any time, including public transportation options. It stands out for having significant aquifer recharge areas, with a large occurrence of streams and rivers that drain into the Doce and das Velhas river basins, making it strategic for the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. This factor contributes to the occurrence of dozens of waterfalls, forming a scenic set of mountains, plateaus and natural vegetation that offer free tourism and leisure options. The vegetation is composed of one of the most continuous fragments of the Atlantic Forest in Minas Gerais, in transition with cerrado formations, such as rocky fields, grasslands and forests, all in good condition. This contributes to an increase in species diversity, due to the presence of species typical of both biomes. Very cool. There are several possibilities for ecotourism, adventure tourism, trails, hikes, educational tourism, wildlife observation, observation of viewpoints, and short and long walks. The creation of the Park was coordinated and mobilized since 2007 and concluded in 2014 for the preservation of the area. However, its decree presents some problems, such as its most significant area, the one with the most attributes that justify preservation, was left outside the park. The preservation of the last large remaining areas of ferruginous cangas that protect and feed the aquifers around the Serra was not guaranteed. The Ribeirão da Prata basin, the main watercourse in the region, was also not protected. Much of the Serra do Gandarela, the only intact mountain range in the Iron Quadrangle, was not included in the park that bears its name due to lobbying by a mining company that intends to install a large mine there. Tourist attractions visited Cachoeira do Viana The waterfall has about four pools, two of which are difficult to access. From the waterfall, it is also possible to observe the regional landscape, highlighting the Itabirito peak. It is my entry point into the Serra do Gandarela National Park. Cachoeira do Índio It is on a popular hiking and cycling trail that leads to a remote waterfall with an observation area. Serra do Gandarela Lookout Located in the municipality of Rio Acima, the Lookout offers a beautiful viewpoint of the park's landscape. From the top of the plateau, it is possible to see Caraça, Pico do Itabirito and BH (the Belvedere buildings). SAVE THE SERRA DO GANDARELA!
