A solid state relay (SSR) has several applications that are worth its price. We explain a little about how the TST model from Metaltex works. It even has a heatsink for when activating higher power loads. For more information and prices on the three-phase solid state relay, visit the Metaltex website at: http://www.metaltex.com.br There you will find several models of three-phase solid state relays with inputs from 3 to 32VDC. Models for 10A, 25A, 40A and 60A and voltages up to 440VAC. The operating principle of a solid state relay is different from that of an electromechanical relay. They are electronic devices used to switch resistive or inductive loads with numerous advantages over conventional electromechanical relays. They have a much longer service life, with millions of operations, high switching speed (maneuver), do not generate sparks, require low power for activation (triggering) and as they do not produce an electric arc, they also generate less electromagnetic noise (Do not generate EMI or RFI). The high switching speed allows them to respond to higher frequency trigger commands, increasing the range of applications. They also do not generate audible noise and are smaller in size when compared to conventional electromechanical relays of the same power. Some important points to be highlighted in solid state relays are: • They perform the function of electromechanical relays, but work through semiconductor devices. • They do not have a mechanical part, working through triacs. • Triacs are semiconductors that work with two thyristors in semi-parallel, allowing the passage of alternating current when a current is applied to their triggering device (gate). • This incredibly increases the service life of the relay because it does not require mechanical contacts. • They have a zero crossing detector that turns on AC loads at the zero crossing of the voltage (sinusoid) and turns them off at the zero crossing of the current, thus avoiding electromagnetic interference in other equipment, in addition to greatly increasing the useful life of the load (in the case of a resistor or lamp, the increase in useful life is about 3 to 4 times). • It is also opto-isolated, preventing high voltages or currents from the load from reaching the control elements of the circuit. -- Mundo da Elétrica is an electricity channel with quality videos for you to learn on your cell phone, tablet or on the TV in your living room.
