In today's lesson we'll talk about the minor scale, we'll see three ways to play it on the guitar and along the way I'll show you some tips that can help you study them more efficiently. The first thing we'll see in this lesson is the concept of relative scales, this will help us understand them and their relationship with the major scale, in this way we'll see that we can derive both the major and minor scales from each other, with this we'll see that we can apply this principle to the modes which is very useful. Then we'll see how to study the minor scale with three fingerings, this will not allow us to move around the fretboard in a very wide range of notes. I'm going to take advantage of this lesson to show you how you can study the minor scale. The first thing you'll do is move the fingerings you've seen to other strings. You don't always start from the sixth string. You can move them to the fifth, fourth, etc. By combining this, you'll expand your range even more. Then we'll talk about how to study them on the same string. This is very useful, as it allows us to learn the notes and leave the fingerings aside. Everything related to scales should be applied. Doing things like transposing songs, trying out melodies in different keys, improvising in different keys, everything points to the same thing: mastering scales on the guitar. Always apply and you'll see results. Improvisation is an art. It's making a song within another song. It doesn't only depend on scales and technique, phrasing, rhythm and musicality. These elements will help us create good improvisations on the guitar. I hope this lesson about the minor scale is very helpful and you can master them soon.
