On January 21st, 2023, it should finally work. Railway nostalgia trips Bebra had wanted to steam through the Thuringian Forest on the trail of the Rodelblitz for a long time. A West V100 pulled the seven-car special train from Kassel via Bebra to Eisenach. The G12 was ready to change locomotives in Eisenach. Unfortunately, the V100 only reached Eisenach about an hour late. Afterwards, however, the train continued to Bad Salzungen and Immelborn with the finest sounds. After a short stop at a crossing, the journey continued towards Wernshausen and via Schmalkalden and Steinnach-Hallenberg. There, the fire brigade took on water. The journey then continued towards Zella-Mehlis and Oberhof to Arnstadt. The locomotive went to Gotha to the depot for turning. The return journey took place over the same routes as on the outward journey. I accompanied the return journey to Altersbach, after which it became a bit uncomfortable. Many thanks to everyone involved and everyone met on this day :)
