Iruya is a town in the province of Salta that is isolated between mountains and not everyone can get there. The only access road is from the province of Jujuy and is not paved. It is a winding road that in many parts goes along the edge of steep cliffs. Iruya hides its mystique between large mountains that protect it and being there feels different from everything else. Its inhabitants are not very open to people outside the town and the economy does not seem to be very developed. Some neighborhoods are very humble but the historic center of Iruya is very beautiful. This dichotomy causes many to fall in love with the town, but others to feel frustrated and disillusioned.
