The European Central Bank has been battling high inflation in the eurozone since the summer. Now the monetary authorities have raised the key interest rate for the fourth time this year - from 2.0 to 2.5 percent. The ECB's plan: The renewed interest rate increase is intended to make loans more expensive and thus curb demand.
