We spent Christmas Eve at our Cuban grandparents’ house, so you can get a first glimpse of our Latin-style Christmas. After delicious, exotic food and gift-giving, we’ll set off on a journey to recharge our batteries in colder climates before New Year’s Eve. First, we’ll visit the world-famous Christmas festival in St. Augustine, the oldest city in the United States. The “Nights of Lights” winter parade’s illuminations were ranked by National Geographic as one of the ten most dazzling holiday lights in the world. We’ll stay in Daytona Beach, a mecca for motorsports, and from there we’ll travel to our two favorite places: Blue Spring State Park, the winter home of manatees, and Walt Disney’s masterfully designed, charming little town of Celebration. Locations: Blue Spring State Park - Volusia County, near Orange City (admission is $6 per car). The most manatees can be seen from November to April.
