The old house we visited this time is a farm guesthouse (Torikotoya) nestled in the great outdoors of Kyoto. They serve pesticide-free, sun-dried rice, freshly picked vegetables, eggs freshly laid by the chickens running in the garden, roasted venison, tempura of seasonal wildflowers, and other Satoyama cuisine. Enjoy the sounds of life with fire in the hearth and sunken kotatsu, the sound of a babbling brook, the chirping of birds, the dancing of fireflies, the cries of deer...
