Few public administrators have left as much of a mark on Brazilian education as Anísio Teixeira (1900-1971). Early in his career, the educator traveled to the United States, where he completed his postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York. A student of John Dewey (1859-1952), he came into contact with the latest ideas in the field of education at the time.
