By contemplating deeply into the no-self, we see that the existence of each thing is only possible because of the existence of other things. We see that everything else is the cause and condition of its existence. We see that everything else is contained in that.” Thich Nhat Hanh. “When you are washing the dishes, your thoughts may be focused on the tea you are going to drink next, and you will try to get out of it as quickly as possible. This means that you are unable to live in the present moment. If you are washing the dishes, you should consider this activity the most important thing in your life. Likewise when you are drinking your tea: the act of drinking it should be the most important thing in your life. If you are using the toilet, the act of using it will be the most important thing in your life. And so on.” Thich Nhat Hanh. “Consider, for example, a magician who cuts his body into different parts, placing them in different places – legs here, hands there, arms there, etc., and with a stroke of magic makes all the parts come together again. The alert mind is like that too. It is the miracle that allows us to restore, in a fraction of a second, the scattered mind, reintegrating it into its totality, so that we can live each moment of life.” Thich Nhat Hanh.
