This video is an integral part of the lesson contained in: https://sites.google.com/view/profess... When there is a difference in heat between two bodies there will always be an exchange of heat between these bodies, with heat always passing from the hotter body to the colder body, until they reach thermal equilibrium. This is what the zeroth law of thermodynamics states. We have already studied heat exchange by conduction (contact) which occurs mainly between solids (but can also occur in fluids). We also studied convection, which is heat exchange in fluids. There is a third form of heat exchange between bodies, THERMAL IRRADIATION. This type of heat transmission explains a large number of phenomena and technologies. This is the subject of this video. Among the technologies that use thermal radiation to function are: Solar collectors (solar heaters) Thermos flasks Night vision cameras Motion detectors Gun-shaped thermometers (pyrometers) Infrared thermometers Optical pyrometers.
