At the same time, he defends Scholz's dialogue with Vladimir Putin, even though international partners have been critical of this. For peace or a ceasefire, it is necessary to talk to all parties involved, including Russia. Schulz also warns of the global impact of a possible return of Donald Trump to the White House. Europe must prepare for an independent defense and become more capable of defending itself "against an aggressive power like Russia." Schulz is convinced of the SPD's discipline: Despite internal differences, the party will stand united behind the candidate for chancellor nominated by its committees.
