The close relationship between the evangelical church and “Bolsonarism” defines religion as one of the central themes of the current political debate. This project is inspired by the so-called ‘dominion theology’, which believes in things like the civil government existing to implement God’s laws (!). In this episode, opening the 2024 season of biweekly episodes, I tried to elucidate for you the historical context of the emergence of this “theology”, the theological movements that influenced it and how my reading of the gospel responds to all of this. SPOILER: you don’t have to be very intelligent to realize that this has nothing to do with the Bible, the gospel or common sense.
