In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. In the beginning was He with God. All things were through Him, and without Him nothing was. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness. The darkness did not overcome it. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We have seen His glory—the glory of the only-begotten Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him. He said with a loud voice, “This is the One of whom I said, ‘He who comes after Me is greater than I, for He was before Me.’” Indeed, we have all received grace upon grace of His fullness. The Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father and is God, has revealed Him.
