Professional driver Linas Savukynas, who has covered 3,500 km and spent one week on the trip, is returning home. The last challenges are to cross the Lithuanian border on time and not lose vigilance on the road. When Linas arrived at the unloading ramp of the company “LMH Baltic” in Vilnius, our fuel consumption experiment also ended. With this experiment, implemented together with the Lithuanian transport company under its real working conditions, we aimed to see how much more economical the latest engine can be than the previous generation. The information system “Dynafleet” showed that the latest modification “Volvo FH” with an updated 500 HP D13 engine and a new air deflector package driven by Linas Savukynas consumed 26.30 l/100 km. This is 1 liter less average fuel consumption on this trip compared to the tractor tested by the professional driver with the previous version of the “Volvo” engine. As driving conditions, truck combination, weight, terrain, and seasons change, fuel consumption also changes, but this experiment showed that the efforts of Volvo engineers have paid off and using the latest truck modification can achieve lower fuel consumption.
