What is a varistor and what is it used for? What happens if a varistor fails? How do you read the value of a varistor? What is a VDR Voltage Dependent Resistor? What is a MOV? How does a Varistor, MOV or VDR work? What is the characteristic curve of a Varistor? What are the tips for interpreting the code of a varistor? In this video I talk about how the varistor works by changing its resistive value being sensitive to voltage changes, we review its characteristic curves, as well as its operation to suppress transient voltages. We analyze different technical sheets to be objective with its interpretation, cited sources are the mouser page where you can consult a large number of varistors and their technical sheets.
