A number of Pashtuns, including some Afghans, have been arrested in the wake of violent protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party in Islamabad. Their relatives say they were not involved in the protests and are now seeking their release. The PTI held protests in Islamabad in the last week of November, demanding the release of its party leader and former prime minister Imran Khan. Afghan refugees in some camps on the outskirts of Islamabad say they are being harassed by police.
