U 995 is a German submarine of the former Kriegsmarine, type VII C/41, which was used in World War II. It was commissioned in September 1943 and completed nine combat patrols. After the end of the war, it became the property of the Norwegian Navy as the test and training boat Kaura. It was returned to Germany in 1965 and officially handed over on October 2, 1971. Since March 13, 1972, the submarine has been a museum ship at the foot of the naval memorial in Laboe. The German Marine Association operates the U 995 Technical Museum, which states that it is visited by around 350,000 people every year.[1]
