Return of the Jedi is a 1983 science fiction film by Richard Marquand with Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. Return of the Jedi concludes the earlier second trilogy about the Star Wars and the power that permeates everything. As we remember, at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) was trapped in a block of carbonite and handed over to Boba Fett, who delivered him to Jabba the Hutt in return for a hefty bounty. Return of the Jedi picks up from there. Together with Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), Luke (Mark Hamill) has devised a ruse to free Han from Jabba's stubby arms, which they succeed in doing after a lot of collateral damage on Jabba's side. While Luke then returns to Dagobah to complete his Jedi training under Yoda (Frank Oz), the others go to the forest moon of Endor. In the shadow of the moon, work is being done on a new, even bigger Death Star. The rebels' goal is a gigantic generator that creates a protective shield for the Death Star. Only when the protective shield is down can the rebels, led by Lando, attack and destroy the Death Star. Luke learns from the dying Yoda that his training will be complete once he has faced Darth Vader (David Prowse or James Earl Jones) one last time. Obi Wan (Alec Guinness), on the other hand, tells him that Luke has a twin sister. While Leia, Han and the ground troops have allied themselves with the Ewoks, Luke surrenders himself to the Imperial troops. On the Death Star, there is a final duel between Vader and Luke, under the greedy eyes of the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid). But the confrontation takes a different course when Luke refuses to kill the defeated Vader. In a selfless act that also means his own death, Vader saves Luke from the Emperor's attacks. As he lay dying, Darth Vader reconciles with Luke - there was still good in the Black Lord after all.
