With its endless fine sandy beaches, its immense pine forest, and its pretty seaside resorts like Soulac-sur-Mer, the Médoc is a very popular holiday destination. But it is also a territory full of unsuspected treasures such as wetlands. Accompanied by Amélie Grand, a young woman passionate about the environment, Éric Perrin sets off to discover the Marais des Conseillers, the ultimate refuge for rare and fragile species. In 2021, Amélie joined the CURUMA association, labeled Permanent Center for Initiatives for the Environment, which is responsible for managing 1,400 hectares of protected natural areas in the Médoc. Preserve these spaces but without putting them under cover, because to keep the marshes alive, they must find an economic function again. To understand this, Eric meets Bertrand Iung, an oyster farmer in Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc. Finally, head to the old oyster port of Verdon-sur-Mer, an oyster village transformed into an artists' village. This is where the studio of Sébastien Rideau is located, who gave up everything to become a visual artist. His poetic works are inspired by the marine world.
