This grandeur is a testimony to the absolute Sovereignty and Power of Allah over all His creation. The Throne-bearers, these angels of immeasurable power, are also of unmatched size and devotion. According to a hadith, the distance between the earlobe and the shoulder of one of these angels is 700 years of travel! Their mission is to support the Throne of Allah, and they do so while proclaiming His glory incessantly, in a constant state of worship. The Throne of Allah should not be seen as a mere material structure. It is a creation beyond our comprehension, symbolizing divine authority. The Qur’an reminds us that Allah “settled” Himself on the Throne, signifying His absolute dominion over all creation, without any resemblance to human beings or the limitations of the material world. This immense creation reminds us of the smallness of our world compared to the infinity of the divine universe.
