A friend of the deceased, Andrey, takes on the search for the culprits. Having met Yulia, who is attractive to him, he helps the girl confront the head of the district police department, the Sheriff. Having unlimited influence, he seeks to expel first Yulia and then Andrey from the city, fabricating evidence against him and accusing him of murder. With great difficulty, the hero manages to escape pursuit. The young people do not immediately understand the reason for such ferocity. Until, as a result of the investigation they started, Yulia and Andrey find the missing samples, and in them - grains of the purest gold, which is impossible to find in nature. Information about the precious metal spreads throughout the city: the route map stolen from Yulia with the marked location of the find ends up on the black market. A real gold rush begins in the city. The heroes themselves join the search, very soon stumbling upon the old workings of a brick factory, where, hidden from prying eyes, there is an operating workshop for washing and cleaning gold from impurities. To the surprise of the heroes, his activities are covered up by the Sheriff himself, who turns out to be just a pawn in the hands of a much more influential person.
