In the latest episode of the podcast "Rzecz w Tym", Bogusław Chrabota talks to General Maciej Klisz, the operational commander of the Armed Forces, about the impact of the 1,000 days of war in Ukraine on Poland and Europe. How have the armed forces, NATO strategies and the geopolitics of the region changed? General Klisz analyses the threats, opportunities and conclusions from this conflict. The war in Ukraine has been going on for 1,000 days, and Poland has played a key role in maintaining the defence line of our eastern neighbour. - "It was Polish aid at a critical moment that gave Ukraine a chance for effective resistance," emphasises General Maciej Klisz. In his conversation with Bogusław Chrabota, the operational commander of the Armed Forces analyses how the war has affected our defence, geopolitics and international alliances. The conversation also touches on the real threats related to Russian nuclear threats. - "This is an element of psychological warfare, intended to affect the morale of the West. But we cannot ignore any scenario," explains the general. The expert draws attention to changes in NATO, which has strengthened its presence on the eastern flank. - "The presence of over 10,000 allied soldiers in Poland is proof of how key our region has become," Klisz points out. Poland is modernizing its armed forces, investing in each of the domains: land, air, sea, cyber and space. The episode also touches on the long-term effects of the war. As General Klisz notes, Russia has switched its economy to war mode, and peace in Ukraine does not mean the end of the threat. - "We must be ready for a long-term conflict that may change its face, but will remain a real challenge for Poland and the world."
