The newly established Department of Government Efficiency, of which Musk is to be the face, resembles the Extraordinary Commission "Friendly State" for matters related to reducing bureaucracy from the time of Donald Tusk's first government, headed by Janusz Palikot, also an effective - for a time - businessman. Will Musk share the fate of Palikot, who initially gained recognition and later suffered a disastrous defeat, both in politics and business? Will Elon Musk fix American bureaucracy? "People who have achieved success in business often believe that they are just as capable of fixing politics," Ptak-Iglewska assesses. The task that Elon Musk was given is to analyze regulations and reduce bureaucracy in the US administration. The journalist is skeptical about the success of this mission, recalling that similar promises in Poland ended in failure. "This is the Holy Grail of politics that is never fulfilled," she comments. One example of Musk's "streamlining" is the X portal (formerly Twitter). After its takeover, a significant part of the team was fired, which caused chaos and numerous problems. "This shows how Musk can approach actions in the administration - aggressively, with short-term goals," Ptak-Iglewska assesses. Elon Musk in the Donald Trump administration: A show or real change? Hiring Musk in the Trump administration is also a spectacular PR move. "Politics is a show, and Musk is the perfect face of such a spectacle," Płociński emphasizes. However, concerns are raised about the possibility that behind all this lies Musk's lobbying and business interests, related to, among others, his companies cooperating with the US government. Can outstanding people in business effectively operate in politics? As Ptak-Iglewska notes, "Politics requires cooperation, not imposing decisions, which is often the opposite of how business works." Płociński suggests that the US Department of Government Performance may end up like the Polish "Friendly State" Commission - big promises, little results.
