The most characteristic feature of this system is the white pawn chain c3-d4-e3-f4, the “Stonewall”. The white Stonewall is based on the variation of the same name for Black in the Dutch Defense. White strives for it in the Queen's Pawn Game, for example via the sequence of moves. In the mid-1990s, the Stonewall Attack was considered a suitable means of defeating chess computers.
