In the next part of Geology in the field, we visited the legendary paleontological site of Ahníkov. Together with geologists Zdenek Dvořák and Tomáš Novotný, we visited the last outcrops that were located in the area of the Nástup Tušimice mine. The geologists on the spot told us about the history of the site, what species of animals were identified and what made it stand out so that it can be described as world-class. Of course, we also tried to find something directly in the field. And it worked! For example, we found a vertebra of a Tertiary rhinoceros, jaws and teeth of deer, several links of turtle shells and other interesting finds. The second part of the film about Ahníkov takes place in the depository of the National Museum, and Boris Ekrt guides us through the exhibited specimens. But more on that next time :-) PS Entry to the places where the site was located is prohibited. It is located in the mining area and is monitored by the security service.
