Fifty years ago, researchers searching for signs of intelligent extraterrestrial life, using the Arecibo radio telescope, sent a powerful radio message to the star cluster M13, approximately 22,000 light-years from Earth, in the hope that a living civilization might exist. Let this star cluster hear our voice and announce our presence. This message is just at the beginning of its journey and will reach its destination in more than 22,000 years, and if it provokes an answer, we will hear that answer in about 50,000 years.
