This film seeks to give a picture of the sawmill industry in Norway today. It points to the results that have been achieved when it comes to the utilization of timber in modern companies. In contrast to this, older sawmills are shown, of which there are still many in this country, and the film shows the defects that make many of them unsuitable. First follows a time in the frame sawmills and then in the smaller and larger circular sawmills. Special emphasis has been placed on the utilization of waste such as bakhun and sawdust. The planers are dealt with in a separate section. Here, too, emphasis is placed on rational operation.
