The last decade of the last century is often nicknamed the "wild nineties": but in cosmonautics it was an era of optimism and enthusiasm for new possibilities of international cooperation. Rockets were built from Russian and American components, joint spaceports, interplanetary probes were created - and the International Space Station was the icing on the cake. But the last years, and especially the months, are marked by the complete destruction of joint programs created for decades. Why is this, what does it mean for space programs and what will the future (without) cooperation look like?
