VEJA Mercado December 16, 2024 In the last week before the parliamentary recess, Congress is rushing to ensure the approval of important economic projects: the texts of the spending cut package, the 2025 budget and the regulation of the tax reform. Abroad, the week is also decisive. On Wednesday, the Fed meets for its last monetary policy meeting of the year, with most market agents betting on a new 0.25 percentage point cut in the interest rate – a move that would put US interest rates in the range of 4.25% to 4.50%. In Brazil, the week also includes the release of the Copom minutes, which should provide more details on the decision to increase the Selic rate by 1 percentage point, to 12.25%. In addition, the Central Bank will release the Quarterly Inflation Report on Thursday, a document that provides projections on the main indicators of the Brazilian economy. Camila Barros interviews Ângelo Belitardo, manager at Hike Capital. VEJA Mercado is broadcast live from Monday to Friday on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and VEJA+, starting at 10 am.
