About :

Are you an introvert (or an introvert) in a world that values boldness, impulsive action and sociability? Discover the strength behind your introversion, and how you can benefit from it, while being yourself. And if you are an extrovert, discover how you can benefit from the qualities of introverts, and how you can better interact with them, and create stronger, richer relationships. In the Western world, since the beginning of the last century, the extroverted character has been highly valued, especially in the professional world. However, almost half of the world's population is not naturally extroverted. In her book "The Power of the Quiet", Susan Cain analyzes in depth the characteristics that accompany introversion, in order to change the prejudice that it is essential to be extroverted to succeed in one's professional life, and in order to allow each person to best express all their qualities, while being more comfortable and more aligned with their nature. Extroversion has not always been so appreciated in our culture, nor is it today everywhere in the world. And even in the Western world, many personalities have had enormous success in their profession not in spite of their introversion, but because of it. The notion of introvert and extrovert was introduced by the psychologist Carl Jung 100 years ago. Introverts are individuals who are rather attracted to the inner world of thought and emotions, faced with an event, they focus on the meaning they give to this event, and when they need to recharge their batteries, they do so through solitary activities. They prefer to focus on one problem at a time, they sometimes need time before being able to make a decision or take action, and they have a great capacity for concentration. Extroverts, on the other hand, are rather attracted to the outside world, to encounters and action. Faced with an event, they will tend to experience it and feel it in the first person, and they find energy through social interactions. They like to carry out several tasks in parallel, make decisions quickly and tackle their obligations quickly, they appreciate adrenaline. Obviously, being 100% introverted or 100% extroverted does not exist (except for pathological cases). Almost all of us are somewhere between these two extremes. There is no profile that is better than the other. According to several scientific experiments, introversion seems to have a biological origin first. Some babies show "high reactivity": they are very sensitive, and reacted strongly to stimuli. Others, on the contrary, reacted in a much calmer way: they have a "low reactivity". For people with high reactivity, the amygdala (the emotional dashboard of the brain) reacts much more intensely than for people with low reactivity, and this strong reaction worries and tires them. The opposite is true for extroverts: their low reactivity makes them feel emotions in a lessened way, which can push them more towards new or risky situations, in order to feel strong emotions. The biological origin of introversion accounts for around 40-50%. A significant part is therefore linked to the environment in which we grow up. Be careful, introspection is not shyness, and is not specific to relationships with others. Rather, it indicates the need to evolve in an environment without overstimulation. There you go, I hope this video has given you some additional keys to better understand how extroverts and introverts function. And above all, stay true to your own nature. Use your natural strengths such as perseverance, concentration, sensitivity. And for the activities you dread, accept that it is difficult for you, get help to simplify the task, and congratulate yourself when you succeed. If you want to delve deeper into the subject, I invite you to watch the two videos dedicated to the book "Unlimited Confidence" by Franck Nicolas.
