In northern Mongolia, there is a sacred alliance between humans and the spirits of the deceased and reindeer. We are invited into a family of Dukha, “reindeer nomads”, during their migration through the forests of the Hovsgol province in Mongolia. The oldest Dukha is a divine seer, a 96-year-old shaman, called Tsuyan. She is the link between her people, the reindeer and the benevolent songs of the ancestors. To live in harmony with the spirits, the Dukha had to learn to respect nature and animals and to pass on their beliefs, from generation to generation, by invoking the sacred songs of their ancestors.
