It was along the course of Ribeirão Cardoso that some of the first precious stones from the Rio das Velhas basin were found, still at the dawn of the 18th century. On this, my first documented visit to the Boa Vista neighborhood, formerly known as Timbuctoo, we wandered along a sequence of trails in the region. Understanding the landscape takes time. Without rushing or without a route, we ran and walked after traces that may have witnessed the first years of occupation of this territory.
