With its countless mysteries, ancient Egypt continues to fascinate us. The Saqqara necropolis, approximately 30 kilometres from Cairo, houses one of Egypt's most fascinating treasures: the pyramid of Pharaoh Pepi II. Few people know about it, as it is closed to the public, yet it contains the largest collection of texts from all the pyramids known to date. For the first time in 90 years, teams from the international archaeological mission to Saqqara are opening and deciphering this marvellous tomb. How did the Egyptians build the pyramids? Their walls are covered with hieroglyphics, but what story do they tell? How can we decipher the mystery of texts that are more than four thousand years old? Using technological innovations such as photogrammetry, endoscopes, hyperspectral images and ultra-high-resolution photography, this documentary alternates live footage with staged interviews to immerse us in the history of Saqqara and offer new perspectives on the tombs of the pharaohs.
