Today we will take a virtual tour aboard the train that descends the Serra do Mar, showing the beauty of one of the most beautiful stretches of the train ride, on the Serra do Mar descent, Curitiba-Paranaguá railway. The virtual tour begins near the Cadeado sanctuary, where we pass through some viaducts and tunnels. There we can already get an idea of how close the train line passes to the cliffs. Then we arrive at the century-old São João bridge, 55 meters high in relation to the bottom of the cave. The bridge was built in Belgium and brought to Brazil in pieces for assembly. Over the years, and as the weight of the trains increased, the bridge needed to be reinforced with a trestle. Next we also have the 3 Marias viaduct, and a tunnel before arriving at the enigmatic Carvalho viaduct, the best-known postcard of the railway. With a curved viaduct, the sensation from inside the train is of flying, often over the clouds, on days when they concentrate below the level of the railway. Some historian friends say that it was originally supposed to be a curved tunnel, just like the tunnel near the Devil's Throat, but during the drilling the hill collapsed. Soon after, we have the Boa Vista viaduct, where we have a privileged view of part of the Paranaguá Bay. I had the opportunity to record the sunrise at this location, on the same day of the video. It was a surreal experience due to its beauty. And we ended our tour at the Marumbi station, where the Marumbi State Park headquarters is located, and we have a privileged view of the Marumbi mountains. #trainride #traintrip #train #railwaycuritibaparanagua
