Cerro Castillo National Park is one of, if not the most beautiful park on the Carretera Austral. It is located in the Aysen region - Chile. And it has trails that reach glaciers and beautiful mountains. You can enter from Coyhaique to the south along Route 7 and stay in Villa Cerro Castillo or Coyhaique as your base of operations. Unless you use a tent or camper. It is one of the great legacies of the philanthropist and environmental activist Douglas Tompkins. We went to the park at the beginning of December 2023, being our 34th national park.
