On February 23, 1967, the ADOLPH BERMPOHL crashed during a hurricane off Heligoland. Three fishermen and four sea rescuers lost their lives. Hinrich Pick was the helmsman of the "Atlantis" at the time. He found the sea rescue cruiser the next morning - with engines running, but deserted. These are his memories. We remember all 45 sea rescuers who have remained at sea since the DGzRS was founded in 1865.
