It is really good quality and I am surprised that this film is not more widely known or appreciated. What a great film. It is similar to “Companieros” in many ways and if you liked that great film you will like this one too. The story is a bit far fetched but it is very entertaining and fast paced in the “Boys” style. The machine gun makes a familiar appearance. Franco Nero, as always, gives a great performance and Jack Palance does a very good job as a very nasty killer. The music is great and the duel in the bullring is unmatched and perfectly set to the great score. If you’re interested in Westerns, you should see this one.” Written by washboard on IMDb.com “Corbucci isn’t known for his serious films, and this is perhaps a coincidence – but there’s no mistaking it. Many scenes reveal the true nature of this film, especially the ending, which is nothing short of thrilling. Living for what’s right, dreaming, but with your eyes open. Often confused with “Tu Comapaneros,” this is a much lesser effort, despite using some of the same actors. While Tomas Milian is unrealistic in most of his films, so is Tony Musante, especially in this one. It’s a film about revolution, but it doesn’t ignore the underlying problems in all of us when it comes to it. There are traitors everywhere, and some of them are dealt with properly in this film. In any case, this is a film with heart where you least expect it – in the middle of what appears to be a cheap spaghetti western. Made in the same time as the fake ’68 movement, but without being fake itself. Why didn't this movie get the DVD treatment instead of the very poor "Two Friends"? Your guess is not as good as mine - because I can tell you: Corporate America doesn't really like revolutionary movies. Yes, Criterion, this is something you should taste!
