For the past five years, public and private elementary schools have been required to include Afro-Brazilian and indigenous history and culture in their curriculum, with the aim of recovering the contributions of these peoples in the social, economic and political areas relevant to the history of Brazil. In a new edition, the Brasilianas.org program invites experts to discuss the paths taken to comply with this legislation in schools, as well as the role of indigenous and Afro-Brazilian peoples in the cultural and historical development of the country. The debate will feature the participation of the Secretary of Continuing Education, Literacy, Diversity and Inclusion (Secadi), linked to the Ministry of Education, Macaé dos Santos; the president of the National Union of Municipal Education Directors (Undime), Cleuza Repulho; the coordinator of the Pindorama Program for indigenous education at PUC-SP, Benedito Prezia; and the professor who coordinated a set of books on the history of African culture, through a joint initiative between UNESCO, MEC and UFSCAR, Valter Roberto Silvério.
