The Brenner Base Tunnel (BBT) across the Alps is considered to be the largest European infrastructure project. At 65 km, the longest railway tunnel in the world is intended to prevent traffic congestion at the Brenner by shifting freight traffic from the motorway to the rails. But the huge construction project does not only have supporters among the neighboring countries in Austria and Italy.
