Since 1953, Saul Marantz had been developing a series of amplifiers at his home in Kew Gardens, Queens. Having achieved great success with his Audio Consolette, Saul evolved the product into the Model 1, which with a great number of adjustments and modifications would become the Model 2 and so on until in 1960 he marketed the Model 9, a revolutionary new amplifier.
