Born in 1928 into a shipbuilding family in Baška on the island of Krk, Mlade Lolić experienced early on what it was like to grow up and be educated under the occupation. He testifies that among the Italian teachers there were fascist pigs, but also followers of Gramsci. He joined the Partisans at the age of 15, and was seriously wounded in the fighting near Ogulin. After completing the course, he worked as a Partisan teacher until his demobilization. After the war, he continued his education, graduated from the Naval Academy, lived and worked in London for 14 years and became a member of the English Shipping Exchange. He returned to Rijeka, where he eventually became the general director of Jadroagent.
