Here is a short moment from the daily life of the signal box in Somonino. The executive signal box has been out of service for several years now. These working antiques are still doing well, and yet they still remember the beginning of the last century. Unfortunately, this is their last breath. Ambitious plans to build a second track from Gdynia to Kościerzyna and electrify the line will deprive the station in Somonino of its unique atmosphere with its shaped semaphores, which will be replaced with electric ones. And probably this year! And this is the last such station on the Gdynia - Kościerzyna section (not counting Kościerzyna itself). As a curiosity, I will add that the signal box in Somonino was one of three in Poland where a special crank was installed to pull the incoming signal from Kartuzy due to the arc and the very large distance to the signal. The second such was located in Czersk and the third somewhere near Wrocław. Therefore, I appeal to all MKs: capture as much as you can, because soon the Kashubian coal mine will lose its charm. It will be hard to part with the priceless sounds of the Colorado potato beetle climbing towards Osowa... Greetings to the control room crew!
