Years of dreaming, working, saving and preparing culminated on Sunday at the starting line of ARC+. To great cheers, 94 boats set course for Mindelo, Cape Verde. The conditions were not ideal at the start, with a light headwind, but by sunset it was expected that the trade wind would fill in. It seems to have been correct, and from the tracking we see that the boats have gained speed. Over the next few days, sailors can expect close to perfect conditions, with 13-23 knots of wind at their backs, all the way to Cape Verde. We will follow the voyage, and are currently waiting for an update from the sailors, which will be sent to us via Starlink. The days leading up to departure were spent with the sailors in Las Palmas, and in the future we will publish a number of articles about what is going on in the world of long-distance sailors. Practical tips for tour sailing, experiences with downwind sailing and everything about Starlink are some of what we can offer in the future. By: Brother Sonne
