In February 1979, Jan Caubergh (46) loses his temper. He first murders his neighbor Yvonne (19), then kills his girlfriend Rina (24) and their five-month-old son Nicky. When the police show up at his home in Schoten, he seriously injures one of the officers during a fierce gunfight. "That went from pew, pew, right past my head. It was like a cowboy movie," says Leo Gauwloos of the local police in Schoten. "I bent down and heard the door close, so Caubergh had retreated back into the house."
