Kabbalah is based on the distinction between two aspects of the teaching of Moses: one exoteric, expressed by the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament) and intended for the masses; the other esoteric, that is to say secret, entrusted by the Master to seventy disciples, who themselves ensured its transmission. It is therefore an oral tradition of an occult nature, transmitted through the centuries from master to disciple. The central element of Kabbalistic theory is a cosmogony which, founded on the unity of God (En-Soph), produces the emanations (Sephiroth), which, in turn, give rise to the "lines" corresponding to the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet, from which the thirty-two "Ways of Wisdom" are elaborated. Isaac Louria (1534-1572), nicknamed "Ha Ari", that is to say "The Lion", student of the great Kabbalist Moses Cordovero, exercised a considerable influence on Jewish mysticism. A charismatic figure, Isaac Louria is said to have received revelations from the prophet Elijah and from the Holy Spirit himself. His theosophical doctrine, prodigiously complex and rich, was expounded by Hayim Vital, one of his principal disciples. It is articulated around essential notions such as the "Tsimtzum", the "Adam Kadmon", the "Chevira", the "Tikoun" and the "Gilgul". These concepts, which are addressed in this video, were an immediate success, because they made more accessible certain principles expounded in the Kabbalah concerning the mysteries of Creation.
