Those who chug along France's waterways in a houseboat rarely have a destination in mind, because in the middle of nature the journey becomes the destination. With a floating roof over our heads, we take all the time in the world, determine our own rhythm and what we want to do and what we don't want to do. We stroll in harmony with nature, and nature sets the pace. The stay on board is combined with activity and rest. We leave the routine of everyday life behind, and yet there is never a hint of boredom.
