The Mannheim Regional Court has been dealing with the Kachelmann case for months. The most important witnesses and experts have already testified, but there is no verdict in sight. Dozens of journalists are following the trial. The turnout of the public is always huge. But the first few days of the trial before the 5th Grand Criminal Division show that voyeuristic curiosity is not satisfied. The ex-lover is questioned for hours, but strictly in camera. The documentary also shows how the difficult proceedings begin to move forward at the end of December. The questioning of the experts begins. Suddenly, new, surprising findings emerge. The film compares the statements of the experts with the alleged course of events - new aspects come to the fore. In numerous interviews, new aspects of the proceedings are brought to the forefront for the audience. Among those taking a stand are Alice Schwarzer, who is attending the trial as a Bild journalist, and Gisela Friedrichsen, the well-known Spiegel court reporter. The two comment on the turning points in the process and take a stand on the problems of reporting.
