She was born in Minya Governorate to a Coptic Christian family and studied at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts, graduating in 1953. She worked in the National Troupe and was famous for her good performance in classical Arabic and French. Art was the reason for the rift that occurred between her and her family in Upper Egypt, but she endured being away from them for the sake of the art that she loved and overwhelmed her conscience.
