International is a North American manufacturer of trucks and engines that is part of the Navistar group. Since 1902, when International Harvester was founded, the company has been developing its own engines! In the 1930s, they developed their first diesel engine, however, these engines were only used in their tractors, while their trucks and pickup trucks only used their gasoline engines. The story began to change in the 1960s, when they developed their first diesel engines for road use. After going through a serious corporate crisis that almost led to bankruptcy in the 1980s, the company stopped manufacturing gasoline engines and focused solely on diesel engines. In the 1990s, the company came to Brazil as a truck and engine manufacturer and acquired the Rio Grande do Sul engine manufacturer Maxion and, some time later, also acquired MWM! In the US, the corporation formed an alliance with Caterpillar, which greatly helped the company enter the heavy-duty engine business.
